Day 261 Emyvale Supporting Donegal (Photo A Day 2012)

This sign is on the side of the road just outside the village of Emyvale Co Monaghan. I’d say most supporters from Ulster will get behind Donegal as the representatives of the province. I have mixed feelings about it. Firstly I have a natural (and sometimes illogical!) inclination to get behind the underdog and in this case Mayo are the less favoured of the two teams going into this years All Ireland Football final. Secondly I have an uncle by marriage, Dr John McAndrew who played on the last Mayo team to win an All Ireland back in 1951. John is in his 80’s now and has lived most of his life in Birmingham but is unable to attend the game on Sunday. He will however be represented by his son Sean and grandson Finbar. So for these reasons it is Maigh Eo Abú!!
