Day 289 Cathy (Photo A Day 2012)

I had a very enjoyable and informative photo shoot with several other photographers this evening at the studio of Nigel Fleming at the Linen Green Dungannon. Nigel shared his considerable knowledge of studio lighting and  we had the services of a very professional model Cathy who did a great job with Nigel’s wife Catherine doing an amazing job with make-up and with the tea and coffee.

Day 288 Crossmaglen Rangers (Photo A Day 2012)

This is an iPhone photo of Crossmaglen Rangers GFC just prior to the Armagh Senior Football Championship played at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh city yesterday. Rangers went on to beat Armagh Pearse Og’s with a score line of 3-9 to 0-11 in what I thought was an entertaining game of football. Crossmaglen are without doubt the kingpins of Armagh club football and that was their 16th senior title in 17 years. The only team to beat them in the last 17 years were Pearse Ogs in 2009.

Day 286 The Ref (Photo A Day 2012)

;

This is Tyrone referee Martin Sludden officiating at a league game in Tyrone Moortown v Kildress. It was a relegation battle which finished in a draw 1-8 to 0-11. A couple of years ago Martin was the most famous referee in Ireland when he was in charge of the Leinster Championship Final between Meath and Louth. Louth were appearing in their first provincial final in fifty years and deep into injury time looked like they were going to win the game. However Martin awarded a very controversal goal to Meath which resulted in a final score of 1-12 to 1-10.

Day 282 Derrylaughan Dancers (Photo A Day 2012)

In the harsh economic times that are in it, every GAA club in the country is trying to come up with ways to generate funds to keep going. Many clubs have gone with either boxing nights or dancing shows much like those on TV. Derrylaughan Kevin Barry’s GFC which is located on the south western shore of Lough Neagh Co Tyrone have gone with the dancing and these are the couples who will compete in  “Strictly Come Dancing” in November.
