The weather over the past few days has been warm and sunny. Following one of the wettest Aprils on record we now have one of the better May’s in a while. You can see the growth on the birch tree in Peatlands park. The photo on the right was taken in March

This is the oil pump from the power steering in my car. This car part has caused me no end of trouble and expense this last few days. Hopefully it will be fixed today, fingers crossed.

This is Clara Garcia and Oscar Estrada from Coletio Hernandez school situated in an area south west of the Spanish city of Valencia. They are in Coalisland as guests of The Primate Dixon Primary school in the town. The Primate Dixon participate in a European exchange programme called “Comenius”  Comenius is part of the EU’s Lifelong Learning Programme, aimed at helping young people and educational staff better understand the range of European cultures, languages and values. Primate Dixon also played host to staff and pupils from schools in Germany and Poland. Clara and Oscar are dressed in the traditional “Xaraguell” costume from Valencia, Spain. These outfits are commonly worn during the “Fallas” fiesta in March.

This is our neighbour Johnny Fay, former athlete,  master brick layer and rugby fan. Johnney celebrated his 80th birthday at the weekend with a party for friends and family in Gervin’s social club Coalisland.

This is our cat “Emma” There is no one who can give you a look of distain like Emma. It’s a look that says “would you ever wise up?”  I don’t think I caught the look this time but I will eventually.

This is Tyrone legend Owen (Eoin) Mulligan or “Mugsy” as he is known by Tyrone fans world wide. The Ulster football championship started yesterday with Donegal beating Cavan in the first round. Tyrone play Armagh in a couple of weeks. How we in Tyrone spend our summer will depend very much on Owen and his team mates. He helped Tyrone win the 2003, 2005 and 2008 All-Ireland Finals and hopefully come September we will be challenging for Sam again. Owen was lending his support to the 32-32-32 initiative which will see a group of GAA club members from Tyrone tour Ireland to raise funds and awareness of the work of the Simon Community for the homeless of Ireland.

This is a group of Tyrone GAA people who will embark on an all Ireland challenge which will involve travelling to the 32 counties  taking a penalty shot at 32 grounds while asking every GAA club in the country to donate 32 euro to the Simon Community.
